Dr. Kristen Byra Assistant Director of Southern Arizona Dr. Kristen Byra

Dr. Kristen Byra is a doctoral level Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D) and licensed behavior analyst, specializing in providing center-based and home-based services for children with autism and related disorders. She has joined the HOPE Group team at the Tucson location. Prior to joining HOPE, she was the owner and director of Evidence-Based Behavioral Consultation, LLC, providing services to the rural areas of Elko, Nevada and Flagstaff, Arizona.

Dr. Byra completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Westfield State College in Westfield, Massachusetts where she completed a one-year internship at The May School, Center for Child Development in West Springfield, Massachusetts. In May 2007, she earned a master’s degree in Psychology from Western Michigan University with a specialization in autism and organizational behavior management. In May 2010, Dr. Byra was awarded her PhD in Psychology, with a specialization in Behavior Analysis from Western Michigan University.

During her time at Western Michigan University, Dr. Byra spent four and a half years providing services to children in an Early Childhood Developmental Delay (ECDD) classroom at Croyden Avenue School in Kalamazoo, Michigan. These services included working on-on-one with children, conducting functional assessments, writing behavior reduction plans, creating and revising curriculum, and training both undergraduate and graduate students to work with children in the classroom. Dr. Byra has spent the past seven years providing both individual and group supervision to master’s level students working towards their board certification. For the past five years she has provided consultation to school districts and for in-home programs for children of various ages. Her duties have included creating behavior plans, training staff to implement behavior plans, providing professional development seminars, and assisting teachers with classroom management strategies.
